Morton FoodballMorton JFL (Junior Football League)

The JFL football program of Morton averages over 200 players and 30 cheerleaders. We have 1 peewee team (ages 8 thru 10), 2 J.V. teams (ages 11 thru 12), 1 Varsity team (ages 11 thru 12), and 1 Senior team (ages 12 thru 14). The teams are not only divided up by age but also by weight. In our program we are also proud to have the Tremont players as part of our teams and if more than one team exist in any one division we will keep the Tremont players together. Our first year for cheerleaders was 1997. We accept girls from the ages of 8 to 14.

The teams in our Central IL League are as follows: Brimfield, Central, Chillicothe, Dee-Mack, Dunlap, East Peoria, Limestone, Manual, Mark Bills, McLean County, Metamora, Morton, Pekin, Peoria Heights, Pontiac, Richwoods, Stark County, Washington, Woodford County, Lacon and Woodruff. We play 4 games at our home field in Southwood Park and 4 away games. The total participation for football players in our Central IL League for 1997 was 2,452 players and 400 coaches.

All of our coaches are certified and coach with our principals in mind. We believe that our children should be taught the basics of football and have fun. All children who sign up to play WILL! We have on our Board of Directors the head coaches of Tremont and Morton. Our own hometown head coach Hal Chiodo supplies our offensive plays and it is his hope that by the time the boys reach high school they will have a head start on being part of a championship team.

When the boys sign up they will receive all the gear they need to play including helmets, shoulder pads, pants, pant pads, mouth piece and game uniform. The only equipment a player would need would be a jock strap with cup, shoes with rubber cleats, socks and a shirt for practice. When cheerleaders sign up they will receive a cheerleader outfit, megaphone and pom poms. Football player sign up fees are $48.00 for the first child and $5.00 less for each child thereafter. The fee covers not only the equipment use but also secondary insurance coverage and Central League fees. The cheerleader sign up fees are $35.00 and cover equipment use, secondary insurance coverage and Central League fees.

If your child has an interest in football or cheerleading and wants to have fun come on out and sign up with us. We would be happy to answer any questions you have and if you would like to participate with your child as a coach we would be happy to talk with you.
