Swimming Pool Update
The
new pool (see below) is currently in its bid specification
design phase. The design specifications must be approved
by the Illinois Department of Public Health before construction
can start. Their review will determine when the project
will be bid. The Park District anticipates having the
project bid and construction begun before the end of
the year. Due to the costs involved, the final design
phase was not undertaken until after approval of the
February 5 pool bond referendum. The new pool will replace
the existing facility and will be constructed adjacent
to the current pool with parking access from both Idlewood
and Greenwood Streets. The design includes an 8 lane
competitive pool, a deep well with 1 and 3 meter diving
boards, two water slides and a water playground to replace
the current wading pool.
