The
Morton Community Foundation (MCF) has been formed
to provide a centralized philanthropic endowment to
meet future needs of the Morton community. MCF is
an independent nonprofit corporation governed by a
Board of Trustees comprised of twelve Morton business
and professional leaders. Operations will be conducted
by the volunteer Board, with administrative support
from the Morton Chamber of Commerce.
Morton
is a better community today because of past philanthropy
of its residents. Freedom Hall, the Bertha Frank Performing
Arts Center, McClallen Memorial Park and the Morton
Public Library expansion are common examples of assets
we enjoy, which likely would not have been possible
without the support of many proud and thankful Morton
residents.
The
primary purpose of the MCF will be to build a permanent
endowment. A portion of annual earnings will be distributed
by the Board of Trustees, based on recommendations
by a Grant Committee made up of community leaders.
The remainder of the annual earnings of the endowment
will be added to the endowment to help it grow and
increase the level of future grants.
The
MCF has affiliated with the Peoria Area Community
Foundation for investment and administrative services.
Initially, the following funds have been established:
- Unrestricted
- Education
- Parks
and Recreation
- Library
Services
- Community
Services
- Potential
funds to meet the specific intentions of donors.
