RENTAL FACILITIES

Freedom Hall · Small Meeting Room · Large Meeting Room · Recreation Center

FREEDOM HALL

Freedom Hall '76 was built as a community project that would provide a lasting tribute to our nation's Bi-Centennial celebration in 1976 and Morton's Centennial birthday in 1977. The beautiful facility at 349 W. Birchwood is a testimonial to all those who dedicated their time and effort to make Freedom Hall a reality.

The original structure was built on land donated by the Village of Morton. Many of the materials used to construct the hall were donated by area businesses. Labor was donated for a large amount of the work through the county's High School Vocational School. The building contains a large 40 ft. x 50 ft. main room, a full service kitchen, public restrooms and a smaller room in its upstairs level. The facility was deeded over to the Park District just prior to its completion and has assumed the permanent management and maintenance of the facility. In 1983 an addition was added to the north end that is now the permanent Administrative Offices of the Morton Park District. This addition also contains a 25 ft. x 30 ft. meeting room that is accessible to the main room of the hall. Additional storage space was also added at this time. The hall is air conditioned and available for public rental throughout the year. (see Freedom Hall rental information.).
